A copy of Laurentius Storioni, Cremona 1790. Assumed to have been made in the John Dearlove's Leeds workshop, and bears a label 'repaired by John Dearlove Leeds, model violin maker to the Great Exhibition'. Also marked Xe which refers to the musical and scientific display. A 2 piece back of medium flame, matching neck and lighly flamed ribs. It has had extensive example repairs assumed to demonstrate the skill of the maker and techniques of repair from the time. A lovely rich, mellow tone.
